Why Get Certified?
A certificate proves the ability to deliver the knowledge and experience in a subject. This is the most important reason to get certified. In fact, PMI exams test a candidate’s knowledge and expertise in the field rather the ability to memorise the aspects of a standard.
PMI offers professional qualifications recognised world-wide for the project or programme manager and project team member. The Project Management Institute is the world’s leading association for the project management profession. It administers a globally recognised, rigorous professional credentialing program certified to the ISO 9001 Quality standard.
The PMI professional credentials - available to members of the Institute and non-members alike - are widely recognised and accepted throughout the world as evidence of a proven level of experience, knowledge and education in project management.
Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM®) is designed for project team members, entry-level project managers and students who want a credential to recognise their value to project team performance.
Project Management Professional (PMP®) is for those who have been leading projects for some years.
Program Management Professional (PgMPSM) is for those who have been leading projects and programmes for some years.
Portfolio Management Professional (PfMP)®
PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP)®
PMI Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP)®
PMI Scheduling Professional (PMI-SP)®
To be eligible for these credentials, you must first meet specific educational and project or programme management experience requirements and agree to adhere to a code of professional conduct. The final step is passing a rigorous computer-based multiple-choice examination designed to objectively assess and measure your ability to apply project or programme management knowledge. This can also be achieved in Southwestern Indiana at the Prometric authorised examination centre.

PMI insists on continued personal development and employs a Continuing Certification Requirements (CCR) program that focuses on the most important aspects of personal development, always related to the project management discipline. The CCR program helps you grow and develop in an ever-changing business landscape. Your career is a journey, and you’ll need to stay relevant as the profession evolves and as the needs of employers grow and change. Your PMI certification is a significant competitive advantage and you’ll want to maintain it. To stay certified, you’ll need to participate in professional development activities, and earn and report professional development units (PDUs.) There are lots of ways to earn PDUs and nearly unlimited opportunities.
The PMI Southwestern Indiana Chapter will be soon organising activities with the aim to assist certified professionals to maintain their certifications. For more information on this please visit the PDUs section on our website or send us your enquiry.
